Obituary of Billie "Blanche" Lang

Please share a memory of Billie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Billie Blanche Northcutt Lang, 93, passed away on February 8, 2025 surrounded by her children. She was born in Luling, Texas in November of 1931.  Blanche’s early years were spent moving frequently with her family as her father was working in the oilfield. She lived in more Texas towns than we could begin to list!  She met Bill, the love of her life, and they married in Alice, Texas in 1949. Blanche was a devoted wife and mother. Once her children started school, she worked through the years in administrative positions in churches, oilfield companies and physician’s offices when the family lived in Odessa, Texas and Denver City, Texas. She was living at Trinity Oaks Assisted Living in Pearland, Texas at the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband William Frank Lang, Sr. and her parents, Thomas and Florence Northcutt.

Blanche is survived by her children Tomi Calmes and husband Michael of Lubbock, Texas, Bill Lang, Jr. and wife Michelle of Tomball, Texas, Steven Lang and wife Jill of Kingsland, Texas and Kim Layne and husband Robert of Pearland, Texas; grandchildren Clint (and wife Michelle), Kyle (and wife Morgan), Cory (and wife Katy), Kenna (and husband Brandon), Michalea (and husband Jaime), Clinton (and wife Megan), Christopher (and wife Caitlyn), Laura (and husband Howell), Colton, HaliAnn, Cameron, and Chloe; 18 great-grandchildren; sister Jenna Guest of Bryan, Texas; sister-in-law Delores Lang of Austin, Texas; “heart children” Bill Wirwahn and Rob Wiley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Blanche had a strong faith in Jesus and was a mighty prayer warrior for her family and friends. She had a kind and gentle spirit.  She made everyone feel welcome. Her love language was cooking, and she could whip up just about anything on a moment’s notice (always from scratch!). She loved Dr Pepper and Whataburger (which must come with an apple pie) and her motto was often “eat dessert first” (especially ice cream so it doesn’t melt!).  She counted her blessings and purposefully chose joy and contentment. She loved her grandkids and great-grandkids and cherished being Mimi to all.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation and love to the staff of Trinity Oaks and the caregivers from Cornerstone Caregiving - Donna, Christy, Haley, Kaitlen, Kayla, Sandra, Yolande, Jean… the list goes on. You showered Blanche and all of us with your loving and compassionate care, and we are forever grateful. You have become family to us just as you became family to her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Parkway Church in Pearland, Crosspoint Church in Pearland, the Alzheimer’s Association or Samaritan’s Purse.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 20th in the chapel of Trinity Oaks (3033 Pearland Parkway, Pearland, Texas) at 1:00 p.m.  Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 22nd at Noon at Luling City Cemetery in Luling, Texas.  Lunch and visitation with the family to occur after the graveside service.
