Obituary of William Russell Lee

William “Blackie” Russell Lee Jr., 86, passed away on July 8, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Willie Mae Lee; brother, Johnny Lee; sister, Gladys Gamble; and granddaughter, Stephanie Brown. Blackie is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Lee; daughters, Susan Reinert and her husband, Doug, Cindy Hooks; brother, James Lee; grandchildren, Bobby Brown Jr., Chris Bryars, and Adam Hooks; great grandchildren, Ashtyn, Grant and Blake Brown, Ethan and Autumn Bryars; and a host of other family and friends. Blackie had a successful career with ARCO for more than 38 years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed, golfing, fishing and hunting. Blackie cherished spending time with his family and traveling with Betty to Hawaii, Europe and his many golf trips. He had a strong faith and was active in his church for many years. Blackie enjoyed volunteering and helping others in any way he could. He was affectionately known to all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren as Papa and his home was always open to all of his family. Blackie will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A visitation for Blackie will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W, Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church, Pearland, 2314 North Grand Blvd., Pearland, TX 77581 with Dr. Keith Whitaker and Dr. Bob Joiner officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at SouthPark Cemetery.
