Lynda (Whitten) Amos lost her courageous 9 year battle with Lewy Bodies Disease (symptoms of Alzheimer and Parkinson’s diseases) and Shy Drager Syndrome on January 12, 2007 at her residence in Pearland, Texas at the age of 66. She will be remembered for her compassion, values, kindness, grace, and love for others. The most important and wonderful times in her life were spent with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, John Amos; three children and their spouses: Donna Edwards and her husband, Matt, of Amarillo, Texas; David Amos and his wife, Suzette, of Webster, Texas; and Deborah Tyer and her husband, Craig, of Friendswood, Texas; seven grandchildren, Josh Edwards, Sarah Tuck, and her husband, Chad, and Kayla Edwards of Amarillo, Texas; Emily and Zachary Amos of Webster, Texas, and Matthew and Corey Tyer of Friendswood, Texas; three great grandchildren; Cayden and Bentleigh Tuck and Amelia Esquibel of Amarillo, Texas, two sisters: Shirley Bridges of Maumelle, Arkansas; and Carolyn Murff and her husband, Charles, of Hurst, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Chester and Syrena Whitten of Bodcaw, Arkansas and her brothers, Royce Whitten of Bodcaw, Arkansas, and Terry Whitten of Odessa, Texas. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2007, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas. The Funeral Service will be at Clayton Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at Ten o’clock in the morning, with interment at the Houston National Cemetery. Rev. Wayne Calder will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to either Shepherd of the Heart United Methodist Church, 6531 W. Broadway, Suite H, Pearland, Texas 77581, or the Lewy Body Dementia Association, Inc., P.O. Box 11390, Tempe, AZ 85284. The family wishes to express their appreciation for all the love, care, and compassion given by the “angels” from Hospice Care Team of Lake Jackson. Thank you also to the Alzheimer’s Support Group which meets at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, and its leader, Joanna Friesen.
