Obituary of Delores J. Overstreet

Delores J. “Jimmy” Overstreet, 64, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 21, 2013. She is preceded in death by her parents Booker T. and Lola B. Jackson, brothers; Thurmond and David Jackson, and sister; Lena Jackson. Jimmy was survived by Jessie Overstreet, her loving husband of 45 years; her son, Larry D. Jackson (Gwendolyn); stepdaughter, Reeshemah Jones-Ward (Jermaine); brothers, Booker T. Jackson Jr. (Carolyn), Earl Jackson (Celementine), Willie James Jackson, Maurice Jackson (Valerie); sisters, Earma J. Pearce (Eugene), and Dorris Ann Washington; grandchildren, Anthony, Myeshia, Lartisha, Largwe, and Kaydence; great grandson, Chace Davenport; and a host of other family and friends. Jimmy loved hair, makeup, shopping, and decorating. Her family was her life and she moved to Houston in 1992 to be closer to her grandchildren. She cherished any opportunity to spend time with her family so she could cook and make her famous potato salad and caramel cake. Jimmy was affectionately known to her grandchildren as “Grandma.” She embraced and loved life and was a cancer survivor that fought a courageous battle until other complications took her life. Jimmy will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. A visitation and service for Jimmy will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581. The visitation will begin at 9:00 am and the funeral service will follow starting at 11:00 am. Interment will follow the service at Paradise South Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
