Deborah “Debi” Susan Byars, age 57 of Brookside, passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2009. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie Wilmer Kizer & Jeanette (Moose) York. She is survived by her loving husband, Stan; son, Sean Byars & his wife Kristal; daughters, Shelia Horton & her husband Sean, and Tami King; brothers, Joe Kizer and Tom Kizer; father-in-law, Joe Byars; grandchildren, Kyndall King, Casey Horton, Jamie Horton, Laci King, Dylan Byars, & Ashlyn Byars; and a host of many other family and friends.
Debi was born on February 12, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas. She resided in the Pasadena area for fifteen years before settling in Brookside. Debi and Stan were high school sweethearts, who would have been married forty-one years this October. While celebrating their life, they enjoyed traveling and vacationing together. In 1998, her beloved Lhasa Apso, Gideon became a part of the family. He was deeply mourned when he passed away just 3 months ago.
She was a devoted pastor’s wife and during their marriage, they ministered together in many ways. Debi was a source of great strength to all those in her path. She was the type of person who could do anything she set her mind to. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crafts, flower arranging and stained glass work. Debi received a Doctorate of Church Administration and worked diligently with Stan. One of the greatest loves in her life were her grandchildren. She often said, “If I had known grandbabies were so grand, I would have had them first!” Her heart was torn because she lived some distance away most of the time and could never get enough of them on special days and holidays. When it got the best of her, she’d say to Stan, “It’s time for a grandbaby break.” They all affectionately referred to her as “Mimi”. Debi was a dedicated servant to God, her faith, family, and friends.
Visitation for Debi will be on Monday, September 7, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home. The Funeral Service is on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Clayton Chapel. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas. Pastor Stan Byars assisted by Pastor Carl Risinger and Pastor Ricky Fletcher will be officiating.
