Obituary of A. Elizabeth Eldred

A. Elizabeth “Betty” Eldred, 88, formally of York, New York, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Agnes McAllister; her loving husband, James S. Eldred; sister, Jean MacFarlane and her husband, Bernard. Betty is survived by her sister, Ruth Rumrill and husband, Peter; brother in law, Thomas Eldred; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Betty and James were married for more than 50 years and enjoyed traveling all over the country and the world. After their marriage in 1955, they resided in Texas and Louisiana. Betty worked for many years as a secretary for Bryan Laboratory. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Betty was a welcoming hostess and enthusiastic tour guide for all who were fortunate enough to visit her and Jim. She loved any time that she could spend with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s honor to Autism Speaks or the American Diabetes Association. A graveside service at Riverside Cemetery in Rochester, New York will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 10:00 am.
