Obituary of Robert Ewald Klentzman

Robert Ewald Klentzman, 73, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ewald and Bessie Klentzman. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Kathryn Klentzman; son, Walter Klentzman and wife, Michelle, daughter, Elizabeth Klentzman; brother, Doug Klentzman, and wife, Pat; grandchildren, Joshua, Evan and Thomas Klentzman; and a host of other family and friends. Robert was a graduate of Alvin High School and the University of Houston. He was an excellent provider for his family and was a pipefitter for Local 211 and a Houston Chronicle Distributor for 26 years. Robert and Kathryn loved traveling and made trips to Europe, Hawaii and a special trip to Alaska for their 50th anniversary. He was extremely skilled with his hands and could fix just about anything. Robert was affectionately known as “Grandpa” to his grandsons and he always looked forward to spending time with them. He served on the Manvel Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Manvel City Council for many years. Kathryn was the Librarian for the Manvel Library and Robert was instrumental in helping with layout, setup and designs when the library relocated. He had a giving nature and spent countless hours helping others with their projects. Robert and Kathryn even enjoyed volunteering as Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the school the last few years. He lived life with an open heart and would always be willing to help in any way he could. Robert was dedicated to his community and felt a great sense of pride in being raised in Alvin. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A Memorial Service for Robert will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581 with Rev. Dr. Bob Joiner officiating.
