Alfonso Garcia Austria, 71, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Conrado and Modesta Austria; and brother, Willie Austria. He is survived by his loving wife, of 46 years, Grace Austria; daughters, Ana Ayala and husband, Stephen, Sheila Austria and partner, Arlene Claveria, Myra Moes and husband, Sean, and Mary Austria and husband, Fabian Rivera; brothers, Rodolfo Austria and wife, Belen, Rizalino Austria and wife, Marie; sisters, Lourdes Lumpmouth, Nilda Locke and husband, Jack, Helen Sugian and husband, Joel, Susan Padulla and husband, Leo; grandchildren, Victoria Hannah Ayala, Cydney Grace Ayala, Aiden Conner Moes, Bruce James Rivera, Adrian Paul Claveria; and a host of other family and friends. Alfonso was an excellent provider for his family and worked for the United Nations as a Field Service Officer for 25 years and 2 months. He loved to travel around the world and visited more than 30 countries. Alfonso enjoyed being outdoors and especially loved swimming in the sea. During all of his travels, he was able to experience food from all over the world and was the ultimate foodie. Alfonso was affectionately known as “Lolo” or “Granddaddy” to his grandchildren and he cherished spending time with them. He will forever be remembered for his love of music, going to the movies, and telling a good joke. Alfonso will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A Visitation and Rosary for Alfonso will be held Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm with the Rosary recited at 6:00 pm by Deacon Dale Almenario at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral service will take place Friday, November 7, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Road, Pearland, Texas 77581 with Father James Courville officiating. Interment will follow at Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
