Don C. Huckabay, 76, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ivy Huckabay; his loving wife, Kathryn Huckabay. Don is survived by his daughters, Janna K. Ponder and husband, Roger, Kim Koza and husband, Jerry; brothers, Jerry Huckabay, and wife, Lanell, Tony Huckabay, and wife, JoJean, Wade Huckabay, and wife, Terry; sister, Virginia Fuller; grandchildren, Travis, Tyler and Taylor Ponder, Nicole and Collin Koza; his beloved dog, C.T.; and a host of other family and friends. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn and they spent 55 wonderful years together. Don was an excellent provider for his family and spent 40 years in the welding supply industry. He and Kathryn settled in Corpus Christi in 1968 and Don served as the manager of Welders Equipment Company and Airgas. Don retired in 2000 and relocated to Pearland to be closer to his family. He enjoyed square dancing, hunting and fishing, golfing, and traveling in their motor home. Don was an active member of the South Texas Renegades RV Club. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Don’s caregiver, Teresa Cole, for her love, care and support throughout his illness. The family requests that in lieu of flowers and based on the limitations of the National Cemetery, donations be made in Don’s honor to the First United Methodist Church of Pearland or the Wounded Warrior’s Project. The visitation will be held Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 5:30 until 7:30 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral service will take place Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Keith Whitaker officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at Houston National Cemetery.
