Edward “Jimmy” William Jeske Jr., age 82, passed away on September 9, 2009. He was preceded in death in January by his wife Charlene; parents, Edward William & Bertha (Schulze) Jeske; brother, Robert Jeske; and sister, Lavern Williams. He is survived by his son, David Jeske & his wife Diana; daughter, Patricia Miller & her husband Art; brother, Richard Jeske & his wife JoAnn; sister, Bettie Williams; sister-in-law, Janice Jeske; grandchildren, Drew, Dustin, Dane, & Dannah Jeske; and a host of many other family & friends.
Jimmy was born on February 16, 1927, the oldest of five children. He was nicknamed “Boy” by his father. At the age of 17, he left home to join the Navy and proudly serve the United States during World War II. He was actually on board the flag ship where the signing of the Surrender of Japan took place. After returning home, Jimmy married Charlene Ruth Stegemoller of Portsville on November 6, 1946 in Austin, Texas and enjoyed a loving marriage for 63 years. In the 1950s, they moved to Houston. Jimmy worked in the Tile & Flooring Business and also Marco Bio System as a Shipping Supervisor. During that time, David and Patricia were born. In 1966, Jimmy & Charlene moved the family to Pearland where they established their home as “Jeske’s Hardway Acres”. Jimmy kept a garden and loved cultivating his garden and maintaining his oak and pecan trees. He loved to keep any item, even if it didn’t work anymore, believing someone could make use of something. He was truly the “Master Pack Rat”. Jimmy had a special place in his heart for all of his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Pawpaw”. Over the years, Jimmy and Charlene enjoyed sitting under the car port or their beautiful trees greeting friends and family who would often stop by.
Visitation for Jimmy will be on Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland.
