Obituary of Claude Lester Anderson

Claude Lester Anderson, 86, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Susie Anderson; son, Arthur Anderson; four brothers and two sisters. Claude is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Leona Anderson; daughter, Pauline Mathews and husband, Stephen; grandchildren, Blake and Brent Mathews; and a host of other family and friends.
Claude was an excellent provider for his family and had a very strong work ethic. For over 25 years he worked as a professional painter, starting off as a contractor with his good friend and partner before moving to a career at Methodist Hospital. Claude also loved the outdoors and enjoyed breaking horses. He always enjoyed working with them and could appreciate their different personalities. Claude was an avid fisherman and loved taking his family fishing. He was affectionately known as “Grandpa” to his grandsons and he cherished spending time with them. Claude had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed either telling or hearing a good joke. He was strong in his faith, found great joy in studying his Bible, and regularly attended the Pearland Church of Christ for more than 53 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation and funeral service for Claude will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will be from 5:00 until 6:00 pm, and the funeral service will follow beginning at 6:00 pm with D.C. Brown officiating. The graveside interment will take place Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Bateman Cemetery near Bastrop, Texas.
