Obituary of Basil Leon Cogbill

Basil Leon Cogbill, 97, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Etta Cogbill; his loving wife of 71 years, Carrie Mae Cogbill; five brothers and five sisters; and grandchild, Jon Cogbill. Basil is survived by son, Steve Cogbill and wife, Elaine; sister, Mildred Bradshaw; grandchildren, Sherri Lyn Snedecor, Stephanie Rene Wadowsky; great grandchildren, Blake Austin and River Cogbill; and a host of other family and friends. Basil was an excellent provider for his family and was a successful sheet metal fabricator. His greatest accomplishment was his family. Basil especially enjoyed watching his son, Steve play sports while he was growing up. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren traveling in their motor home. Basil served on the City Council in Pearland in the late 1960’s. He stayed very active throughout his life and loved bowling; playing in leagues well into his late 80s. Basil will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A visitation and service for Basil will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am and the service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Rex Forsyth officiating. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland.
