Jesus “Jesse” Vargas, 70, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Janie Vargas; half brothers and sisters, Irene Garcia, Andrew Vargas, Rosie Nejia, Delores Vargas, David Vargas; and grandson, Anthony Holton. Jesse is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Susie Vargas; his aunt that raised him, Carolina Nieto; sons, Jesse “Buddy” Vargas Jr. and wife, Zayda, Raymond Vargas, Nicholas Vargas, Jesse James Vargas and wife, Rickie; daughters, Jayne Vargas, Annie Vargas and husband, Robert Granad, Mary Jane Mauricio and husband, Frank Jr.; brothers, Joe D. Vargas, Justo, Johnny, Lupe, Thomas, Martin, and Narciso Nieto; sisters, Mary, Theresa, Licha, Delores, and Elizabeth Nieto; half brothers and sisters, Steven Vargas, Rebecca Garza, Linda Williams, Yolanda Vargas, Janie Grimaldo, Mary Helen Boyd, Gloria Vargas; numerous grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Jesse proudly served his country as an 82nd Airborne Ranger. He was a take charge kind of guy that loved watching wrestling and old cowboy movies. Jesse earned his brown belt with two stripes in karate and competed in many competitions. He enjoyed golden oldies, going to the flea market and the mall, and going dancing with Susie. Jesse was affectionately known as “Grandpa” to his grandkids and he cherished spending time with them. He will greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A Visitation and Rosary will be held for Jesse on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will take place from 5:00 until 8:00 pm with the Rosary recited at 6:00 pm. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 6502 County Road 48, Manvel, Texas 77578 with Father Thomas V. Ponzini officiating. Interment will follow at Alvin Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.
