Obituary of Lela Jacqueline Farmer

Lela Jacqueline Farmer, 81, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Freda Starr; her loving husband of 47 years, R. C. Farmer; brothers, Elmer, J.T. and Travis Starr; and sister, Norma Costales. Lela is survived by sons, Michael Farmer and wife, Belinda, Kenneth Farmer and wife, Joy; sister, Lavinia Cooke; grandchildren, April White, Katie Crockett and husband, Dan, Amy Nesrsta and husband, Eric, Casey VanNostrand, Rebekah Farmer; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Chloe and Kyle Crockett; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Lela was born in Stephenville, Texas and her family later moved to Houston where she graduated from Aldine High School in 1951. She loved sewing, reading, embroidery, crocheting and knitting. Lela was strong in her faith and a devoted member of the Church of Christ. She found great joy in cooking for others and was always available to assist at the church with meals. Lela was affectionately known as “Memaw” or “Meme” to her grandchildren and she cherished spending time with them. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
A visitation for Lela will be held Monday, February 9, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral service will take place Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 10:00 am at Clayton Funeral Home with D.C. Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas.
