Christina “Krissy” Doreen Amanda Lucas passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Zabawa and brother, Mike Zabawa. Krissy is survived by her mother, Joan Zabawa; husband, Roy Lucas; sons, Luke Lucas and wife, Natalie, Jacob Lucas; daughter, Katie Maust and husband, Scott; brothers, Chris Zabawa and wife, Sherri, Ronnie Zabawa and wife, Tiffany; grandchildren, Brannon and Julianna Lucas, Dalten, Dayten and Hayden Maust; her beloved dogs MiMi, Molly and Faith; and a host of other family and friends. Krissy was a stay at home mom for most of her adult life except when she was called upon by the Alvin school district to fill in for the school nurse as a substitute. She and Roy have been married for more than 30 years and her greatest joy was raising her family and watching their activities from Rodeo to car racing, she was always there for them. Krissy was known as a “cleaning machine” in her home and this was part of her daily routine. She also loved to cook for her family and bring everyone together for family gatherings. The grandkids affectionately called her “Gammy”. Krissy loved going to the casino and playing the penny slot machines and when she would hit a jackpot she would sometimes call her kids to tell them because in her excitement she couldn’t wait. Krissy grew up in the 70’s and 80’s and enjoyed all of her classic rock and you could still see her pulling up in the car with the radio blasting to her favorite music. She was always caring for everyone else throughout her life and one of her favorite things to tell her kids while they were growing up and dealing with life’s many challenges was “It’s going to be alright”. Krissy had a very short but courageous battle with cancer and even in her fight she turned to her family and said “It’s going to be alright”. On the day of her passing she was surrounded by her family and she died with a smile on her face. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. This will be a time for family and friends to celebrate Krissy’s life with pictures, stories and much laughter.
