Please share a memory of Peter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peter “Henson” Ferdinand, 73, was born on October 27, 1941 in Castries, St. Lucia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Terrance and Mary Ferdinand. In St. Lucia, Peter leaves his brother, Houstis Ferdinand and two sisters, Fetera Ferdinand, Ann’Cyllia Ferdinand. Peter’s formal schooling took place in St. Lucia but he also had to take on the role caring for his three siblings. Peter migrated to the US Virgin Islands in the early 1970’s. Upon his arrival to St. Croix, he worked for Hess where he did interior commercial and residential painting. In 1978, Peter married Cynthia Ferdinand and the two were married for 32 years. In 1984, Peter moved to Houston, Texas where he continued the work of an interior commercial and residential painter for Austin Industries. It was during these years where Peter became a member of the Bellfort Seventh Day Adventist Church where he gave his life to Christ and was baptized on August 27, 1994. Peter offered his services to Christ and the church in the role of a Deacon for many years. He was a very hard worker and loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed watching old westerns, listening and dancing to country and western music, and barbecuing. Peter did not take a liking to fast food as he loved home cooked meals of his native country, such as ground food and provisions such as dascheens, sweet potato, peas and rice, stew chicken and soup. He loved soup and could have soup any time of the year whether it was hot or cold outside. He also loved to bake homemade bread and when his children came by they would have fresh homemade bread and baked chicken. You could find him any time of the day walking up and down the street. He loved to be outside. Sadly, Peter took his last breath and departed this life on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Harbor Hospice. His passing brought sadness to the hearts of all who loved him. We will miss him tremendously. Peter leaves to celebrate his life his son, Placid Ferdinand from a previous marriage and wife, Sandy. From his most recent marriage; his son Roger Jn.
