Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Belle Enmon, 84, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 28, 2015. She is preceded in death by parents, George and Olive Conroy, her loving husband, William Glenn Enmon, and sister, Constance Marie Conroy. Her daughter, Allison Ator and husband, Alex; grandson, Nathan Alexander Ator; close cousins, Atherina Scott and Wanda Seck; and a host of other family and friends survive Betty.
Betty grew up in Enid Oklahoma, attended Gulf Park College for Women where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. It was in her junior year that she met and married her Air Force pilot Glenn in Panama City Florida. After marriage, she briefly lived in Orange Texas, while he served in the Korean War. They then moved to Minneapolis Minnesota and finally settled in Fort Worth Texas where God blessed them with daughter Allison. In 1963 the family moved to Sacramento CA where they lived until 1975. During these years Betty was active in Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church along with the Chi Omega alumni chapter. She and Glenn moved to Tampa FL in 1975, where they lived and served at McGill AFB until 1980. After this final military tour, they relocated to Augusta GA. While living in Augusta, Betty and Glenn always made it a point to attend the practice rounds at the Masters, and enjoyed weekends at Hilton Head or other white sand beaches. She worked as a bridal consultant for many years. Glenn passed away in 2001 just 5 months before their 50th anniversary. She lived there until 2002 when she moved to Pearland to be near her daughter and grandson beginning another chapter of her life.
Those who met her always-loved Betty and she ministered to many in her own way. She was a founding member of Peace Presbyterian Church in Pearland where she was once again active in adult bible study and sharing God’s word. Many described her as classy and elegant as she was known to always be perfectly put together and had to entertain in the finest way. It was during her years here in Pearland that she began to cruise and see parts of the world she never thought she would see with her best friend and others from Country Place. Betty had a love for gardening, her butterfly garden and the fresh flowers that were always in her home lifting her spirits. Despite many surgeries and physical handicaps, Betty a breast cancer survivor remained strong and determined not to let life get her down. She trusted that the Lord would carry her through and he did.
Betty was a loving mother, friend and grandmother who continually prayed for all the loved ones in her life. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. May we find comfort in knowing that she is now experiencing “the gift of grace” our Lord and Savior promised all of us through the resurrection of his Son Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Glory be to God!
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Peace Presbyterian Church, the Wounded Warrior fund or Breast Cancer society. A Memorial Service for Betty will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 4:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581 with Pastor Scott Cummings officiating.
