Charlie R. Whatley, age 89 of Manvel, passed away on October 5, 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents, Enoch & Hettie (Hughes) Whatley; son, Roy Glenn Whatley; and daughters, Rose Mary Lee and Marlyn Whatley. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rose Whatley; sons, Johnny Whatley & his wife Rhonda, Simon Whatley & his wife Mary, and Billy Whatley & his wife Becky; sister, Essie Later & her husband Dick; twenty grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of many other family & friends.
Charlie was born on May 15, 1920 in Oakdale, Louisiana. He resided in the Houston area since 1992.
Visitation for Charlie will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Pastors Simon & Mary Whatley will be officiating. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
