Ethel Marie Thigpen, age 96 of Pearland, passed away on October 5, 2009. She is preceded in death by her parents, H. Perthuis & Minnie (Llewellyn) Perthuis; husband, Alvin R. Thigpen; and brothers, Robert Perthuis and Alfred Perthuis. She is survived by her sons, Bob Fitzpenn & his wife Toni and Rick Thigpen & his wife Karen; sister, Marjorie Miller; grandchildren, Graham & Devon Fitzpenn, and Brandon, Jeffrey, Abby & Erica Thigpen; and a host of many other family & friends. Ethel was born on April 10, 1913 in Galveston, Texas. She loved the Houston Rockets, trying new recipes, and stayed sharp solving even the most difficult crossword puzzles (in pen!) She was a very talented church pianist who played passionately for almost 90 years. Ethel was a godly woman who was Christ-like in her daily life, loved her family and was dedicated to her faith. She was a strong prayer warrior and touched the lives of many. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “MawMaw”. She will always be remembered for her warm and encouraging words to everyone. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Memorial Hermann Southeast, Windsong Village, and Odyssey Hospice for their compassionate care of Ethel. Visitation for Ethel will be on Sunday, October 11, 2009, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with the Funeral Service beginning at 3:00 pm in the Clayton Chapel. An entombment will take place at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 9:00 am in the Abbey Mausoleum.
