Being the proud patriot, he served his new country and became a citizen while stationed at Fort Polk in Louisiana. His family would eventually relocate to Texas and settle in the Pearland area. Erwin was a devoted member of St. Helen Catholic Church for over 50 years and originally attended church when it was simply a Mission with the priests coming from Alvin to hold Mass. He was active in the Parish Council, served as chairman of the BBQ shortly after the yearly bazaars were formed, and was active with the Knights of Columbus. Erwin continued working as a tool & die maker his entire life until retiring at the age of 82. He enjoyed deer hunting, flounder gigging and spending time with his grandchildren.
