James A. Block, of Pearland, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 with his loving family by his side.
Born in Oakdale, Louisiana on February 19, 1944, James was the son of Thelma Kavanaugh and James A. Block, Sr. He graduated from Glenmora High School and shortly thereafter moved to the Houston area. Employed by Center Point Energy (then known as Entex), he was a dedicated and loyal employee for over 41 years. James married the love of his life, Pamela Harms, in 1970. They settled in Pearland where they raised their two sons.
James is survived by a loving family; his wife, Pamela; two sons, Jonathan Thomas, of Pearland and Michael Sean and his wife, Sandy, and his four granddaughters, Kirra, Kaylee, Kelsi and Mandy, of Limestone, Tennessee. He also leaves behind his 98 year old mother, Thelma Block, of Webster; two sisters, Wanda Block Sheppard, of Webster and Barbara Block Hebert, of Sugarland; five nieces and nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
James was a gifted genealogist and enjoyed nothing more than tracing his family roots and sharing his findings with family. He was also a gifted musician and could play many instruments. He spent many happy hours with his sons and their friends playing his sax and instilling in them a love for music. James lived by the highest degree of integrity and was always ready to help anyone in need.
Visitation was held Thursday, April 28, 2005, from 6 – 8 PM, at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland. A Celebration of James’ Life was held at 11 AM Friday, April 29, 2005, at the Chapel of Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland. Interment followed at SouthPark Cemetery.
