Obituary of Sherry Lynn Casarez

Sherry Lynn Casarez, 59, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015. She is preceded in death by her father, Samuel Hardcastle. Sherry is survived by her mother, Ettie Hardcastle; her loving husband of 31 years Joseph; sons, Joseph "Joey" Casarez and wife Roxanne Gonzales, Chad Chumley and wife, Heather; daughter, Ariana Casarez; sisters, Karen Rhodes and husband, Dr. Robert, Donna Smith and husband, Thomas; grandchildren, Zakary Casarez, Alexa Vazquez, Asia and Rian Casarez, and Calley Chumley; great grandchild, Zavier Casarez; and a host of other family and friends.
Sherry graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She would go on to work in civil service for The United States government for more than 28 years. Sherry loved traveling and spent three years in Okinawa, Japan. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson and was affectionately known as Grandma to all of them. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching International House Hunters, CSI, forensic shows and her favorite Dallas Cowboys. Sherry was strong in her faith and fought a courageous battle with cancer with grace and courage. She was an inspiration to all of her friends and family throughout her entire struggle. Sherry will be greatly missed with all that knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sherry’s honor to breast cancer research.
A Memorial Service for Sherry will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Southview Baptist Church, 23003 Hwy 288, Rosharon, Texas 77583 with Pastor Steve Brumbelow officiating.
