Obituary of Maria Flores Garcia

Maria Flores Garcia, 91, of Cleveland, Texas, peacefully passed away on May 29, 2016. She was born, July 9, 1924 in the City of Lockhart, Texas. A longtime resident of Pearland, Texas, Maria was proceeded in death by her son, Joseph Figueroa. She is survived by her daughters Jodie Figueroa Winder and Linda Figueroa Poindexter and her husband, Lynn. Maria’s grandchildren include Jacqueline Winder Haas and husband, Kevin, Crystal E. Winder Williams and husband, Robert, Rodney Ray Begara, David Poindexter and wife, Megan, Leslie Poindexter Bailey and husband Fred. Joy L. Poindexter Leger and husband, Jamie. Stephen Figueroa, Carrie Figueroa, JoAnne Figueroa, Joseph Figueroa III and wife, Afton, Gabriel Figueroa, Veronica Figueroa, Sebastian Figueroa, Annette Figueroa Alonso and husband, Larry. Maria was great-grandmother to 21 wonderful great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brothers, Santos Flores and wife, Elida, Esidoro Flores and Frank Flores Jr; sisters, Tina Flores Jasso and Kathleen Flores Bogar and husband Frank; and numerous nephews, nieces and dear friends. Maria was strong in her faith, was devoted to her church and had a prayerful soul who always had others in her heart and in her prayers. She was generous with her heart and always made sure to tell her family how much she loved them. Maria was known for her caring and nurturing demeanor and was always available to help others in need. She will forever be remembered for being soft spoken and kind to everyone she met. Maria truly loved her family and cherished every opportunity she had to spend time with them. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. A visitation and rosary for Maria will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 pm with the rosary recited at 6:00 pm. The funeral mass will take place Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rod., Pearland, Texas 77581 with Father James Courville officiating. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland.
