Sometime about 10 years ago, my mother had a quilt top that my grandmother, her mother had made back in the 1940s probably, but had never finished. I offered to find someone to finish it for her. A fellow member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Heights, Mrs. Wren Groeschel, was a member of a quilting group, so I asked her if it would be possible for her group to take on this project. And, so they did - they picked out a back fabric, edge tape, and batting and finished it. It was lovely, and my mother remembered the original of many of the squares in the quilt -- a shirt of my grandfather's here, a dress of my grandmother's or hers there -- it gave her great joy to have it finished.
I lost my mother just this past March, and my siblings and I have been going through her things. Just last weekend I got this quilt. Unfortunately, over the last 10 years it has been washed by facility staff or caregivers and many of the squares are missing. So, I was going to try and locate the original quilters to have them restore it. I had a record of who I wrote the check to, and it was Alice Teinert.
I just did a Google search to try and locate Mrs. Teinert, but found this site. My profound condolences on the loss of your mother. Although I never met her, I am pleased to have a small piece of the wonderful stitching that she did and apparently loved so much. I hope that you have many such remembrances among you that will lift you up and strengthen you in the days to come. I pray for comfort and peace for all of you who mourn her.
Regards,
Barbara Szalkowski

We were so sad to hear about Aunt Alice's passing and want you to know our family is sending you our love and prayers. Jeannette and I especially have many fun memories of summers with Ping Pong and Goggi and spending time with Aunt Alice and Uncle Bill and of course the girls who we always thought were such fun cousins!! So many special times together. She had a long and active life and was always so engaging and full of stories! Thinking of all of you. May God grant you peace and comfort in the days ahead.
Love,
The Rathgeber Family

I am so sad to hear of Alice's passing and I'm even sadder that I missed her funeral. Condolences to the family. I am a member of Epiphany and Alice was a staple in the congregation. She took a shine to our son Cameron a few years ago when he as still in High School, she mentioned that she loved seeing the youngsters in the Adult Bible study. Cameron would look for her whenever he went to Church or Bible Study to say Hi and to tell her what he was up to. We were strangers, but family in Church. She would always ask about my family and wish us the best. Alice had a heart of gold and I'll forever be grateful to her and the love she shared with us every time we saw her. I think the last time we all spoke to Alice was at Easter Service. She was beautiful and I miss her.

To the family, you have shared a most beautiful picture of her. Aunt Alice always smiled and loved to talk to all sharing memories and comments. I have a lot of memories of her especially as a child.
Since we all lived close together and went to the same church, there was lots of fun, laughter and good times in simpler days.
God bless and strength and love to all.
