Obituary of Arch (Archie) Leon Uilkie
Please share a memory of Arch (Archie) to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Arch "Archie" Leon Uilkie, 77, passed away August 21, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arch Adam and Ruby Uilkie. Archie is survived by his wife, Linda, son, Larry Holloway, daughter Melissa Holloway Daigle and her husband Tommy; grandchildren, Kandace and Keily Morphis; great grandchildren, Aeirlyn and Trevisan Matthias; and a host of many other family and friends.
Archie, also known as Jr., was a loving husband and father. He was always supportive and let us make our own decisions, and when things didn't turn out as planned, he was there to pick us up. Archie was a private person. If you got the chance to know him and became his friend, he was very loyal.
Archie was born and raised in Anderson, Texas. As a boy he spent his days going to school, attending church, and helping his mom and dad on the farm. Archie was drafted into the United States Army in 1961 at the young age of 22, where he spent the next three years stationed in Germany.
Over the years Archie had a passion for collecting Ford mustangs, Ford thunderbirds, Ford trucks and all the parts that went with them. He also collected old doors, lumber, model cars, glass globe gas pumps and even a few grocery carts.
Archie was known as a "workaholic" as some would say. He had a famous saying "work never hurt anybody" and had that half smile on his face followed by a laugh. During the day Archie managed Merritt Mill Works, on Wednesday nights he delivered real estate books, and from Friday night to Sunday night he spent his time helping his mom and dad taking care of the farm. Even though he worked constantly, he always found time to spend with his family.
