Obituary of Richard Earl Brown

Richard “Dick” Earl Brown, 88, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Eleanor Brown and his stepmother, Mildred Brown. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Edna Brown; daughters, Christine Anne Warner and husband, Courtlandt, Cheryll Patricia Tengram and husband, Tom, Catherine Louise Raney and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Jeff Walters, Janine Andersen, Steven Tengram, Terri Billiot, Kimberly Burton, Andrew Raney, and Caitlan Raney; great grandchildren, Mason Andersen, Addison Andersen, Matthew Billiot, Kayden Billiot, Savannah Billiot, Caleb Billiot, Hayden Burton, Ian Burton; and a host of other family friends. Dick grew up in Tyler, Texas and attended Jeff Davis High School in Houston. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Dick was a wonderful provider for his family and went to work for Southwestern Bell as a Repeaterman. His career with SW Bell would span more than 37 years. Dick loved taking the family on annual vacations and took an extended trip of 5 weeks to England to meet distant relatives and camping trips to Colorado. He and Edna enjoyed square dancing and round dancing and performed in exhibitions all over the world. Dick enjoyed playing golf and was a lifelong Bridge player. He was strong in his faith and was an active volunteer at his church for many years. Dick cherished spending time with his family and was affectionately known as “Grandpa” and “Great Grandpa” to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. The services for Dick will be held Friday, September 30, 2016 at 11:00 am at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am and the funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. James T. Payne officiating.
