Travis Eugene “Gene” Lenamon, 81, went home to be with Margo, Sunday, January 1, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Effie Lenamon; and his loving and devoted wife off 52 years, Margo Hanson. Gene is survived by his daughters, Margene Lenamon and partner, Karen Purpera, Leeann Lenamon; brother, Benjamin Robert Lenamon and wife, Susan; mother-in-law, Jane Hanson, sister-in-law, Jorjie Lewis, brother-in-law, John Spencer and his wife, Toni; nieces, Leslie Lenamon Lauderdale and husband, Paul, Leigh Lenamon Davis and husband, Kenneth; nephew, Martin Lenamon and wife, Johnna; numerous great nephews and nieces; and a host of other family and friends.
Gene was a wonderful and devoted husband and father. He was an excellent provider for his family and made sure they always had everything they needed. Gene was known as a great critical thinker and problem solver. This ability served him well in his many endeavors including a tour of duty in the Air Force, his many years working as a refinery operator, a poultry farmer, and as chief cook and bottle washer in the restaurant he and his wife had in Huntsville, Arkansas. His career took him to Russia where he helped setup a refinery and where he was able to take his wife on the adventure of a lifetime. His last overseas job was in Saudi Arabia. Upon retirement, he took care of Margo and was dedicated to her until her passing. Gene was a great brother to Ben and an amazing influence on him. He had a great impact on his daughters and took great pride in teaching them how to think critically, fix things for themselves, even including how to take care of their cars. Gene will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to your favorite charity. A Memorial Service for Gene will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581 with Capt. Kenneth Gene Davis officiating.
