What a blow. I was raised right around the corner from Martha in Alvin, Texas and I can't begin to tell you about all we did growing up in Alvin. I had a horse and Martha had a horse. We took many rides out into the country around Alvin, but mostly out on Mustang Road and back into town on Hill Street on the south side. I could talk about our rides a lot, but will mention only one; that was when we were coming back into town on Hill Street from a ride and had a race, as we usually did. We had a wreck(that's right, a WRECK) at the S curve on Hill Street. Her horse went down and my horse ran over him and I ended up in between the horses. Martha for thrown clear, but the horses got cut up pretty bad from the oyster shell that they used on the roads back then. Martha's first husband worked for the same Company I did(Phillips). I remember when Marcus got killed and how I hurt for my old "cowboy/girl" friend. My heart goes out to her family today and I regret that we did not ever have a chance to meet at a class reunion and rehash all those rides we made. Blessings to all her family. Martha was a trooper!!

Betsy and Joey: I have been praying for your family. May God grant you comfort and peace. I just today found her obituary and saw that she was buried in Lafayette LA.
Give my condolences to Tricia and Marcus.

Martha, was a darling precious friend to my Dad and to me. We have many funny stories to tell and we use to laugh so hard at my Dad. When Martha would say something to him something he would disagree with, he would always say, "Oh get out of here". If I could have a dollar for every hour they talked on the phone, I would be a rich lady. They talked through Astro games, and every night they watched Wheel of fortune together, on the phone. Hours of Bridge hands and television shows spent talking on the phone. They would travel,to bridge tournaments and dad would always bring her breakfast to the room. They were the very best friends.
Martha and I shared experiences of raising my daughter Lisa and her son Mark. We had girls night out, we played bridge together., we all partied together, and laughed and laughed about , "The Only One Club" translated it means after bridge a group,of friends would go out for ONLY ONE.....but sometimes it was two. I love her and I will always miss her.
