Obituary of Charles Joe Huckabee

Charles “Huck” Joe Huckabee, 84, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Annie Huckabee; and his loving wife of 57 years, Myrtle Ramona Huckabee. Huck is survived by his sons, Chuck Huckabee and wife, Laurie, Mike Huckabee and wife, Sarah; sisters, Shirley Bockart and husband, Dick, Betty Watson; grandchildren, Kyle Huckabee, Lexie Huckabee; multiple nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. Huck was born in Alabama but his family moved to Alvin when Huck was very young. He graduated from Alvin High School where he played basketball, football and baseball. Huck attended Alvin Jr. College and the University of Texas before being drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country in Germany before being honorably discharged and returning to complete his degree at the University of Houston. Huck was an excellent provider for his family and had a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry. He worked for many years as a staff accountant, president of a trucking company and then joining several friends to start their own trucking and transportation company. Huck was a man of strong morals, ethics and faith that inspired everyone he met. He was a longtime active member of the Church of Christ and served on the Finance Committee. Huck will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Huck’s honor to Houston Hospice at www.houstonhospice.org. A visitation for Huck will be held Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at Clayton Funeral home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. A funeral service will take place Monday, February 20, 2017 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Rayford Welch officiating. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
