I worked with Tom over the past few years, and he was always a pleasure to work with. A brilliant mind; very kind man. The work discussions inevitably would steer toward our mutual love for hunting and the great outdoors.... Tom was one of the good guys and will be missed.
Sincerely,
Mike Reese

I'm sorry for his passing and will say a prayer for him.

I worked for Tom for several years at Donnelley Marketing in Nevada, Iowa early in my IT career. Tom was a great leader for our team and the best and smartest manager that I ever worked for! From time to time our team was under a good deal of pressure, but Tom always had a way of calming us down. Sometimes that meant him approaching the whole team or individuals with discussions of topics having nothing to do with work.
I remember working on a project that was behind schedule, so Tom took on part of the programming work to help the team out. That was clearly beyond the call of duty for him as the team manager.
Tom was also very supportive of me when I had a serious family crisis to deal with.
I pray and trust that God will comfort your hearts until you are reunited with Tom again someday.

I first met Tom in 1995 at Cameron and Sarah's wedding, but I got to know Tom Years later when I had the opportunity to hunt whitetail with him year-after-year in South Texas on the Payne Ranch. Tom was always cheerful, 4am or midnight. Without a doubt, that is what I will remember most about Tom: a cheerful enthusiasm at all times. And he was always willing to learn something new or do something different. He took up bow hunting one of those years when many men his age were hanging up their hunting jackets for good, and when everyone else was tucked securely around the warmth of a campfire Tom was always willing to throw on a jacket, grab a rifle and join me for a late night drive around the ranch. He was always willing to lend a hand for dirty work, too... an attitude I appreciated and admired. I will miss Tom's cheerful and happy presence in the coming years on those Texas hunting trips. It was an honor knowing him.

LaVonne and family, though I think I only met Tom in person once or twice, being Facebook friends really gave a window into who he was and what he loved and stood for. It is obvious he loved and cared for you and your girls' and families most of all. He seemed very caring and fun loving and we seemed to have the same values. I have thought of you and your girls and especially the grandkids who I am sure will greatly miss their Papa ever since I heard of this seeming untimely passing. You are all in our prayers and thoughts. May you find comfort and encouragement in your memories and the legacy he left.

Dear Lavonne and family,
I am so sorry for your unexpected loss of Tom. I was thankful to get to know him on our trip touring Israel the month before last for your 45th and especially glad to visit you both back to visit and welcome your newest grand-daughter back here in Connecticut just a short ago.We climbed up the steep fortress Masada together on our trip and Tom made the funniest video posted on facebook during the trip that was such a hit with all of the kids back home. My Sunday school class thought he was hysterically funny in that. I know Tom is with our Lord and we will see him again, but I am so sorry for your loss and missing him.

Dear Lavonne,
My condolences to you and your family on the loss of Tom, with whom I enjoyed very interesting conversations on our recent trip to Israel, where we met. Of course, I was shocked to hear of Tom's sudden passing. Having personal experience with the sudden passing of a loved one, I know that this must be a most difficult time for you. May your faith sustain you in this, as it did for me. Perhaps there is some comfort to be found in the thought that a sudden passing is the easiest for the person moving on in his spiritual destiny to join with God. In that, perhaps Tom was blessed, indeed.
