George Randolph Gaffney Jr., 87, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth Gaffney; brothers, Walter and Jackie Gaffney; sisters, Mary Margaret Kettenbach, and Georgene Gaffney, SSM. George is survived by his loving wife of fifteen years, Mary Gaffney; stepsons, William Wilmarth and wife, Robin, Dorsey Wilmarth and wife, Jami; stepdaughters, Cindy Hilton and husband, Larry, Phyllis Sullivan; nine nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and dear friends. George was a proud patriot that served his country in the United States Marines in Korea. He had a successful 30-year career with NASA. George enjoyed traveling all over the world throughout his life. He was an active member of the Country Place community and volunteered to serve on many committees during his more than 20-years living there. George loved gardening and spending time outdoors. He was a kind and thoughtful friend who enjoyed helping others. George will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Services for George will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Warren Chapel at St. Dominic Village, 2401 Holcombe, Houston, Texas 77021. The family will receive guests at 9:00 and the funeral mass will begin at 10:00 am. Private interment will take place at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
