Phillips and fiancé, Dahlia Smith, and Lesli Kirsch; great grandchildren, Julia, Chelsea, Casey, Victoria and Kiley; great-great grandchildren, Abbey, Jake, Wyatt, Aspen and Cooper; and a host of other family and dear friends.
Initially a homemaker, Johnnie followed her eclectic style to pursue her passion in floral design after the children left home. She was an amazing cook and no one ever left her table hungry. Over the years, there were many young people that Johnnie took under her wing as her “children” and fostered special bonds with them that lasted her lifetime. She was a loving and devoted, mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. Johnnie loved sports and has an avid supporter of her beloved Texas A&M Aggies, in both good times and bad. She was a great conversationalist and loved talking about a wide range of topics with anyone who would sit with her and listen. Johnnie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Denice Grays and her daughters, DeeDee and Teka, and to Tabitha Barron, for their care and assistance over the past several years and to the nursing staff at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, and A*Med Hospice for their gentle and loving care of their mother in her final days.
