Obituary of Ernestina Ornelas Suarez

Ernestina Ornelas Suarez, 83 passed away, Friday May 26, 2017.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Teofilo and Ana Ornelas; husband, Ramon Suarez; brother, Daniel Ornelas; and sister, Socorro Ornelas.  Ernestina is survived by her sons, Rafael Suarez and wife, Maria, Gonzalo Suarez and wife Dora, Teofilo Suarez and wife Jessica, Raymond Suarez and wife Michelle and Jose A. Suarez; daughters, Maria De Jesus Martinez and husband, Francisco and Guadalupe Suarez; brothers Bonifacio Ornelas and wife, Esperanza and Cresencio Ornelas and wife Maria Elena; sisters, Elfida Gonzalez and Evagelina Ornelas; 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; and a host of many other family and friends.

Ernestina was affectionately known as “Nena” and was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.  She loved family gatherings and family was of a great importance to her.  Ernestina was a wonderful cook and loved making flour tortillas and the sweet bread, bunuelos, a special treat that the entire family looked forward to.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and especially loved to sing.  Ernestina was strong in her faith and would always pray for herself and others.  Even though her battle with Alzheimer’s was difficult, she continued to love her family and say her prayers with great faith and grace.  Ernestina was truly an inspiration and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation and rosary for Ernestina will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581.  The visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm with the Rosary recited at 6:00 pm.  The Chapel Service will take place Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 10:00 am with Deacon David Bowman.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8601 Almeda Genoa Rd., Houston, TX 77023.
