Obituary of Rene Catherine Hank
René Catherine Hank, 78, passed away, Wednesday, August 16, 2017.
Born July 16, 1939, to Armand and Ethel Zenon in Lafayette, Louisiana, René Catherine "Cat" Zenon broke the mold upon arrival. Truly there will never be another woman as sacrificially loving, spunky, devoted or long suffering as she. She grew up with the love of a large southern family understanding what it meant to work hard. "Cat" as she was known by family, was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Edward, David and Lucien Zenon.
She grew up knowing how to keep her home and cook very well at a young age. Upon graduation from Carver High School in 1958, Rene' received the Pillsbury National Baking Award for her homemade biscuits as well as a full ride College Culinary Scholarship. Some of her specialties included boudin, Gumbo, ettouffees and pretty much anything she put in her hands to create.
She loved her husband, Charles Lee Hank II who swept her off her feet in Chicago, Illinois. Together they gave life to Carlos, Carl and Charlene, and she extended her mother's love to Charles Hank II, Anthony Hank and Belinda Whitfield. Her dream of one big happy family came true.
Mrs. Hank lived life to the fullest and truly found pleasure in being a part of the daily lives of her children. She was her children's biggest cheerleader and ultimate fan! She bragged about her children's accomplishments every chance she got. Her huge heart and love for the Lord compelled her to be a caregiver to both her parents and her step mother before their passing.
Her career paths lead her to be a Nurse, Union Construction Worker with Local 207 in Lake Charles, Louisiana and a Crossing Guard with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in Las Vegas, NV.
Her legacy is carried on by her children: Carlos and his wife Pamela Hank, and their children, Charmaine and her husband Denzel Williams and mama's great grandchildren London and Colton, Kaylee and Carlee Hank; Carl Hank and his children, Carl Hank II and Charlene Antoniette Rene' Hank; Charlene and husband Robert Hernandez and their children, Serenity, Kevin, Chloe' and Erika; her stepchildren Belinda Whitfield and family, Charles Lee Hank III and family and Anthony Hank and family; her beloved nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
