Obituary of Thomas Hilmer Bunkley
Thomas Hilmer Bunkley, born September 6, 1922, in Ranger, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018, in Pearland, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife Edith Oddetta Day Bunkley; parents Horatio Leigh and Tempie Morris; two brothers; three sisters; son, Gary Alan Bunkley and daughter, Edith Louise Bunkley. Thomas is survived by his son, Thomas E. Bunkley and wife Sue, Manvel, Texas; grandchildren, Randy Bunkley, San Francisco, California, Wendee Grubbs and Husband Gregg, Rockwall, Texas; two great granddaughters, Haley and Emma; and a host of other family and dear friends.
Tom served 22 years in the U.S. Army and retired as a Captain. He was wounded during WW2 in the Philippines. After retirement, he worked an additional 22 years as a walking mailman in Lemon Grove, California. Tom was a servant of Jesus Christ and faithfully attended worship before his health prevented it. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation and service will be held for Tom at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581, on Monday, April 2, 2018. The visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and the service beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Lanny Partain officiating. Interment at Houston National Cemetery will follow.
