“B did it her way!”
Beryl Mary James-Ramnarine was born into this world on September 10th, 1941 to the late Elvina Thomas and Percival James in Cumuto Trinidad. Beryl was married to Mikey Ramnarine who predeceased her in 1978.Their marriage resulted in two children, Roxanne (Cindy) and Ranier (Froggy). B never remarried, as no other individual could replace her husband.
Beryl Ramnarine spent the earlier part of her youth having fun and enjoying her life. Known to many as “B”, her love for exploration in uncharted territories, her natural intelligence, independent spirit, flare for glamour, and her expressive views on every aspect of life and politics. These characteristics empowered her to be the women we all grew to love and admire.
Her education begun at Arouca E. C. School and later continued to Egypt Government Primary School. Thereafter, life continued for her, as motherhood took over and became her primary responsibility.
A woman of beauty, conviction and strength. Beryl was in all sense of the word, a woman ahead of her time. She was known for her non-conformative views, analytical ability, and general expert on every aspect of world and humanity. With a thirst for knowledge; Beryl’s next adventure took her to Canada, where she pursued Computer Programming with International Business Management (IBM), mastering computer coding & data entry, becaming one of the first female in the computer field in Trinidad.
Upon Beryl’s return from Canada she moved to Fanny Village, Point Fortin, then settled in Point D’or, La Brea together with Mikey Ramnarine, where her life continued with her family. Several years later after the passing of her beloved husband, she relocated to New York before her final move to Houston, Texas.
