Obituary of Phyllis Scher Bennett

Phyllis Bennett, 78, of Pearland, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lillian B. Pitts and Phillip Scher; husband, William J. Bennett; and sister, Janice Clark. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Wayne Bennett, Randy Bennett and wife, Mary Ellen; daughter, Mona Cabler and husband, James Adams; brother, David Scher and wife, Cordelia; grandchildren, Jennifer Longstreet and husband, Matt, Jason Bennett, Joey Bennett, Nathan Bennett, Kayleigh Bennett, Sarah Bennett; great grandchildren, Jacob Longstreet, William Longstreet; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Phyllis had a strong relationship with Jesus Christ and was heavily involved in her church. She did volunteer work whenever she could with multiple organizations. Mission Centers of Houston, Montrose Street Reach, and feeding Houston’s homeless through Care and Share, were a few she frequently worked with. Phyllis enjoyed playing cards and dominoes in her spare time. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, family member, and friend to everyone she met, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation for Phyllis will be held at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581, on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Shadycrest Baptist Church, 3017 Yost Blvd., Pearland, Texas 77581, on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Donald Hintze officiating.
