My mother, Mary Ann (Stricklin) Evans, is Fred's cousin. I have fond memories of visiting Fred and Erna in Baytown when I was a little girl. I'm sorry we were not able to attend the services today, but our thoughts and prayers are with you. I must say it makes me smile every time I think of Fred enjoying a family trip in what turned out to be his last days. What special memories that must be.

I am one of Fred's cousins that grew-up with him, his brother Braden and his Mother, Dad and Grandmother. I am 5 years younger than Fred so when he gave me boxing
lessons when I was about 14, I was more a live boxing bag than I was a boxing opponent. I remember vividly when Fred returned home from the service in 1958 with Erna and their two daughters.
I moved from Texas when I graduated from college so I only saw Fred occasionally when I returned home to visit with my Mother, brothers and sister.
I am so sad for Fred's family and send my love and condolences to each and everyone.. I just learned of Fred's passing today so there is no way for me to get to Pearland for the services which are tomorrow. I know God will be with Fred, he was a great guy.

Since I graduated from Cedar Bayou High School in 1951, I have not seen Fred, but found his life most interesting. I remember him well and I believe I would have recognized him, seeing this later photo it seems his countenance was the same as when he was young. I am glad he had a happy life ---and who would not choose to die at Disney World having had fun on the rides with the grandchildren? God favored him! I wish I could have seen his place in Temple and to see his artwork. If you decide to show it anywhere, please be sure that e-Bear lets us know ahead of time.
May all of your wonderful memories sustain you through this time of sadness.
Sincerely

Elaine and Evelyn:
Even though our time together was limited, we're so thankful our paths crossed.
Your love, encouragement and compassion were so inspiring to us.
Please know our love, thoughts and prayers are with you. We're thankful that we all got to hold hands and pray together before he left to be with your mother.

I am sad to learn of Mr Buckels' passing. I have missed him ever since he and Mrs Buckels left Moffat. Their home here was a regular visit for all of my family and friends.
One day I took several members of my family, who were here for our reunion, to see the Rock House. Not being Texans they just wandered into his yard to walk the trails and gaze at the wonderful scenes there. While I'm trying to explain trespassing to them Mr Buckles came out to greet us. What a great guy! We received a full tour including storm shelter and running waterfalls. We saw where the grandkids had added their special touches too.
Although the frog has lost his fly the memory of our day there will add it back just as clearly.
Mr Buckles was a super guy. He left his mark in Moffat, TX.
