Obituary of Jean Louise Hagemeier

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jean Louise Hagemeier, 94, of Pearland, Texas, passed away on August 18, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alta Libby and Charles William Opel, and husband, Elsworth Hagemeier. Left to cherish her memory is her brother, Paul Opel and wife, Lois; sisters, June Pape and Naomi Weller; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and dear friends.

Jean was born September 10, 1923 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She married the love of her life, Elsworth Hagemeier, on May 17, 1963 in Edwardsville, Illinois. Although she had no kids of her own, Jean was like a grandmother to her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed helping people, family, friends, and neighbors. Extremely strong in her faith, she loved God and lived to please him to prepare for the day she would be with him. Jean wrote this poem just a few months ago:

The shuttle is slowing,

And soon will cease to fly.

The loom will be silent,

The weaving will be done.

Then the resurrection,

Oh, glorious dawning,

Eternal life is won.
