Obituary of Horacio Mariona Leiva

Horacio “Junior” Mariona Leiva, 28, of Pearland, Texas, passed away on September 1, 2018. Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Reina Isabel Mariona; father, Horacio Leiva; grandparents, Maria Consuelo and Juan Jose Mariona; loving wife, Lindsay Leiva; brothers, Jose Roberto Ascencio, Luis Ascencio; sisters, Ivette Xiomara Ascencio, Leonicia Esmeralda Mariona; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Junior enjoyed watching Real Madrid and the Oakland Raiders. He was a fan of the Beatles and liked listening to their music. He and his wife, Lindsay, loved going to the beach, watching movies, attending the newlywed Bible study class, and spending time with family and friends. Junior had a kind heart and volunteered at the Harwin Faith Center and the Student Ministry at Houston’s First Baptist Church. He was strong in his faith and it brought him great joy to share it with others. He was baptized on September 25, 2016 and was an inspiration to many. Although he was battling cancer, Junior’s sense of humor never wavered, and God’s light shined through him wherever he went. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.   

The family requests the services be reserved for friends and family 12 years of age or older, please no children under 12.  They also request that in honor of Junior, everyone attend the funeral in suits or business casual attire; no t-shirts, please.

A visitation and funeral service will take place on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Houston’s First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Frwy, Houston, Texas 77024. The family will begin welcoming friends for a visitation at 10:00 am and the service will start at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
