Obituary of Marion Theresa Hoff
Marion Hoff, Galveston’s 1934 Mardi Gras Queen of the Indian Paintbrush, passed away September 9, 2018 peacefully at home surrounded by her children in La Porte, Texas.
Marion was born June 15, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Shortly after she was born, her parents and 2 older brothers moved to Galveston, Texas, where she attended Ursuline Academy and Galveston Ball High School.
On March 14, 1952, she married the love of her life, Jerry Hoff. In 1964, they moved their growing family to La Porte, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and her husband, Jerry Hoff. She is survived by her children, Mark Hoff and wife JonAnne, Greg Hoff and wife Sheri, Kristen Barazi and fiancé, Chuck Lafon, JuleeAnna Lee and husband Mike. Marion (Mawmaw) is also survived by grandchildren Kala Smith, Bryan Hoff, Brittany Hoff Suey, Havalle Barazi, Jwan Barazi, Broosk Barazi, Hannah Lee, Hunter Lee, and 4 great grandchildren. The family wants to thank Maria Ocanas for the loving care she provided mom over the past five and a half years.
Marion was “mom” to many. With her warm heart and bright smile, she welcomed all into her home.
Despite her declining health and failing memory, she continued to have strong Christian beliefs. Her family is at peace with her passing, knowing without a doubt she is home with our Lord and Savior.
The family will be receiving condolences and support Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 12 pm – 2 pm at the Houston Yacht Club, 3620 Miramar Dr. in Shoreacre Texas. There will not be a formal service, just a time to be with the family, pay respects, and share fond memories.
