Jim Compton June 27, 1919 - October 26, 2013 Gilliam “Jim” Compton, 94, of Seabrook, Texas passed away on October 26th, 2013. He was born in Houston, Texas on June 27th, 1919 to John and Augusta Compton. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, son Ronnie Compton, granddaughter Wendy Carr, brothers Calvin, Truman, Carson, Merlin, and twin sister Carolyn. He is survived by his wife Margie, daughter Patricia Benefield and husband Lynn, grandchildren David Benefield, Lori Baker, and 6 great grandchildren. Jim served in the Army Air Force as a waist gunner in B-24. He was a staff sergeant and flew 37 missions. He graduated from Webster High School in 1939 and married his wife Margie in 1950. Employed by Humble Oil Refining Company in October of 1945 where he was a sheet metal worker, Jim retired after 37 years in January of 1983. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9:00AM to 11:00AM on Wednesday October 30th, 2013 at Paul U. Lee Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at Grand View Memorial Park at 11:30AM.
