Paul “Pablo” Denis Terry, age 73, of Pearland, Texas formerly of Huntsville, Tennessee passed away Monday, February 7, 2010 at the Windsong Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Paul was the youngest of thirteen children. He was the son of the late Carnelon and Martha (Smith) Terry of Huntsville, Tennessee. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers James-Arvilee, Bill, Floyd and Roscoe Terry, as well as three infant siblings. Survivors include: sisters, Hazel (Ellis) Woods of Kingston, Tennessee, Annis Laity of Illinois, Lilly Glavich of Florida; brothers, Carnelon Terry, Jr. of Clinton, Tennessee and JB Terry of Huntsville, Tennessee; children, Shanda Terry and friend Randy Leach of Texas, Cathy Day and husband Gary of Oneida, Tennessee, Margie Semick and husband Mark of Mesa, Arizona, Dennis Terry of West Virginia, and Stephen Terry and wife Kerry of Pearland, Texas; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Tristan, Bryan, Bridgette, Brandon, Brittany, Hannah all of Texas and Daniel of Oneida, Tennnessee; five great-grandchildren, Cambri-Ann, Ayden, Landon, Mason, Kandace all of Texas; and a host of many other relatives and friends.
Paul served from 1954 to 1958 in the United States Air Force. In the early sixties, he served as Chief Deputy with the Scott County Sheriff’s Department under Jack Laxton. He was a member of the Parkplace Daylight Masonic Lodge in Houston, and was also a member of the Houston Shriners Organization. He was a businessman for many years in Houston, Texas operating the Breezeway Night Club, and later owning and operating two separate pawn shops. He loved to travel and over the years him and his nephew, Frazier, visited various countries, including Africa. He was an avid fisherman, and was also known for spoiling his grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Clayton Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. A local memorial service will be held at the Highpoint Baptist Church, Monday, February 15, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Paul Denis Terry to the Cure for Alzheimer’s at 866-232-8484 or http://www/alz.org.index.asp.
