Obituary of Melba Earley

Melba "Jo" Earley April 13, 1929 - April 29, 2010 Melba “Jo” Earley, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. Jo was born April 13, 1929 in Lakeview, Texas. She passed away April 29, 2010 at home with family close by. Jo taught school in LPISD for 31 years and loved all her students. She retired in 1990. She was a member of Missouri Street Church of Christ, retired teachers association, and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She is preceded in death by her husband John Leslie Earley. Jo is survived by children Brode Chamberlain and wife Christy, Julie Smith, grandchildren Jonathon Chamberlain, Lyndsey Foster, Justin Smith, James Alan Chamberlain, Matthew Swift, great grandchildren Tayler Reid Chamberlain, William Brode Chamberlain, Cayden Lane Foster, Emma Grayce Foster, and Kayleigh Jo Smith, and siblings Linda Westergren and husband Fred, Ann Lester and husband Jerry, Rhodney Williams. Also nieces in New Mexico and nephew Randy Williams and wife Donna of Santa Fe, TX. Visitation will be held Sunday May 2, 2010 from 4-8PM at Paul U. Lee La Porte Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Monday May 3, 2010 at 1PM at the funeral home as well, with Jim Whitehead officiating. She will be buried at Grandview Cemetery beside her husband John Leslie Earley.
