James Morgan Eckhardt
May 29, 2013
James Morgan Eckhardt died peacefully at home on May 29, 2013.
Born with a hole in his heart and one of Dr. Denton Cooley’s first open-heart surgery patients, Jimmy would have been 68 on June 4. He lived his entire simple life in the family home in La Porte, Texas. He enjoyed driving his car around town for grocery shopping and laundry and to Jack-in-the-Box for tacos as well as reading the daily newspaper. He was the family expert on dates and names. He will be remembered for his perseverance in overcoming the adversities in his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Robert and Nell Eckhardt, his brother John Robert Eckhardt III, and his sister Dorothy Nell Eckhardt. Survivors include his cousins in Huffman, Austin, and Goliad, Texas, and Ardmore, Oklahoma.
The family deeply appreciates the care that family friend Jim Parisher provided in the last months of Jimmy’s life
