Velvera "Vera" Mae Green December 26, 1924 - June 26, 2016 Velvera “Vera” Mae Forester Green, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, entered into rest on June 26, 2016. Vera was born on December 26, 1924 in La Grange, Texas. She lived on a cotton farm and worked the fields alongside her family until she was 18 years old. Though she only graduated from the eighth grade, she was wise beyond her years. She learned at a very early age to work hard and be faithful to her family. Vera met the love of her life May of 1945 working in a diner, and bravely travelled all the way to California by train during a time of war. There she married Billy Charles Green after only knowing him for 3 months. That marriage lasted 50 years until his death and even then she was still completely devoted to him, tending his grave with flowers lovingly and frequently, weekly…..sometimes more. The last 20 years have been very hard as she had to learn to live on her own, but she not only survived, she thrived. She battled breast cancer and came out a champion to surpass all of our expectations. She made us all so very proud. She found new purpose for life, always being there for us in any way she could help. One look in her beautiful, velvet blue eyes and you felt that love, and your special bond with her. She loved her family more than words can express. Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Julius Foerster, brother Javelyn Foerster and the love of her life, husband Billy Charles Green. She is survived by her very dedicated and loving son Billy “Bubba” Green and wife Linda, who loved her as much as a mother could be loved; her cherished daughter, Marilyn Green; her completely adored grandchildren Susan Baugh and husband Jarod; Billy Wayne Green, Jr and wife Lonna, Brittany Blevins, Will Blevins and Crystal Padilla. Her most precious great grandchildren Haley Priest and husband Wilson; Garrett Baugh, Hannah Green, Bryson Blevins, Wesley Blevins and Bradley Blevins, and her last wonderful blessing a great-great granddaughter Elizabeth Grace Priest. “Ma” as we all called her with the truest of affection was very special to all of us. She will truly be missed and our lives will never be the same without her. A gathering of remembrance will be held at Paul U. Lee La Porte Funeral Home on Thursday June 30, 2016 from 12pm to 2pm. Services will be performed by Pastor Dee Spears directly following the viewing. Interment will be immediately following services at Grandview Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas.
