Robert M. “Bob” Currie Jr., age 83 of Pearland, passed away on March 13, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert M. Sr. & Mary (Tomlinson) Currie. He is survived by his wife, Hazel of 59 years; sons, Robert M. “Greg” Currie III & his wife Susan, Paul Currie & his wife Gay, and Kevin Currie; daughters, Valerie Currie, Allison Watts & her husband Daniel, and Heather Currie; sister, Jeanne Rohrbach; grandchildren, Colt, Colette, Stephen, Chelsea, McGregor, Logan, Brittany, Lyndsie, Nellie, Coleman, Ryan, and Lexi. Bob was born on October 2, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Corpus Christi when he was 5 before settling in the Houston area in 1960. Bob was an A & M graduate and received his MBA from the University of Chicago and proudly served his country during World War II in the U. S. Navy. Bob and Hazel enjoyed playing bridge and traveled the world together competing in tournaments. For their 50th wedding anniversary, Bob & Hazel took their entire family, all 20 of them, on a cruise to Cancun and Cozumel. To his grandchildren, Bob was affectionately known as “Papa”. Bob was a successful business man for many years and owned a car dealership, Bob Currie Ford. In his spare time, he would often play tennis with his family. After he retired, Bob kept busy with the Pearland Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He also enjoyed managing his investments and closely followed the stock market. Bob will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him. Visitation for Bob will be on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 10:00 am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am in the Clayton Chapel. Rev. Rosemary Dubois of Friendswood United Methodist Church will be officiating. Interment will be at Houston National Cemetery.
