Letha Alice Hindes May 29, 1920 - January 30, 2011 Letha Alice (Kooyers) Hindes left us to join hands with our heavenly Father on January 30, 2011. Lee was born on May 29th 1920 in Holland MI. She grew up in Kalamazoo MI, but settled in Watervliet MI., where she and her husband Jack raised their family. After retirement, they became snowbirds moving to Florida. Lee and Jack enjoyed a full life of fishing, exploring the beaches, and visiting family in far away places. They were active members of the V.F.W. Lee was very artistic and enjoyed writing poetry, making pottery, painting in oil colors, gardening and fishing. In 2003 they moved to LaPorte to be close to family. Lee enjoyed 61 years of marriage with her beloved husband Jack. They did everything together and held hands until the day he died. In 2010 Lee followed her family to Livingston TX, where she lived at Timberwood nursing home. Lee quickly made new friends at Timberwood, where she was well cared for. Lee is survived by her brother Robert Kooyers and wife Fran, Sister-in-law Dormilee Kooyers, son James Hindes and wife Pat, son Barry Hindes and daughter Cheryl Yoder and husband Dan, grandchildren Kerry Clements and husband Allen, Jack Hindes and wife Brandy, Christopher Yoder and wife Charyell, Andrew Yoder and wife Dana, Matthew Yoder and wife Angela, Candace Hawkins, Kristen Hawkins, great grandchildren Gabriel Alberto, Olivia Alberto, Donavyn Yoder, Destiney Yoder, Gavin Yoder and Lylah Yoder. There will be a viewing at Paul U Lee Funeral Home in LaPorte TX, on Friday February 4, 2011, from 5 -7 p.m. The funeral will be held at Golden Acres First United Methodist Church, 2838 Lily St. Pasadena, TX 77503 on Saturday February 5, 2011, at 10:00a.m. There will be a small reception immediately following at the Church. Friends and family are welcome to attend. In lieu of usual remembrances donations may be made to the Hope Community United Methodist Church, C/O Golden Acres United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 5207, Pasadena, TX 77508.
