Nadeen Grau Hyde passed away peacefully on Friday, December 15, 2017, at the age of 79, at her home in La Porte, Texas. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Cliff Hyde, her sons, Michael Hyde and wife Linda and David Hyde and wife JoAnn, her grandson Brian Hyde and wife Kali, granddaughter Erin And and husband Clint, grandson Ryan Hyde and wife Jessica, granddaughter Sarah Meuth and husband Blake, granddaughter Hannah Hyde, grandson Ross Hyde, great-grandson Easton Sexton and great-granddaughter Adeline Hyde.
Nadeen was born on March 21, 1938 in Taylor, Texas, the only child of Fred and Bertha Grau. She grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas where she attended W. B. Ray High School. On Dec. 17, 1957, Nadeen met the love of her life, Cliff Hyde. They were married 4 months later on April 4, 1958 at which time she moved to Houston Texas. Before meeting and marrying Cliff, Nadeen attended Del Mar College for a year and then became a stewardess for Braniff Airlines. Cliff and Nadeen welcomed their first child, Michael, in April of 1959 and two years later, their second child, David was born in August of 1961. In 1965, while working for the family business, Cliff Hyde Flying Service, Cliff and Nadeen moved to La Porte, where they would raise their family and become active members of the La Porte Community. Among her many accomplishments, Nadeen soloed in a Cessna 150, was an active Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and served as a member of the Ladies Reading Club, La Porte Garden Club, La Porte Heritage Society and the Houston Yacht Club Ladies Association. Nadeen loved to travel, and she and Cliff traveled extensively throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, Alaska and Europe. However, by far, her greatest accomplishment was that she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The legacy she leaves behind is a tribute to her kind, loving and generous heart.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in La Porte Texas at 11:00 am. The service will be preceded by visitation from 9:30 - 11:00. A reception will follow at the church. A graveside service will be held the following day, Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Paul U. Lee-La Porte Funeral Home.
