Drusilla "Dru" Stacy Latimer
April 19, 1927 - August 05, 2015
Dru Latimer was born 4/19/1927 in Norphlet, AK to Dillard and Bonnie Stacy and she was to move 15 more times in the next 88 years. She had 4 more siblings born after her starting with Raye in Dallas, TX 5/3/1928, then Maxie in Logansport, LA 12/2/1930, then Dora in Logansport, LA 9/12/1932, and Donnie in Houston, TX 1/13/1933. Lillian was born in an earlier marriage 7/6/1924 to Bonnie and Clester Davis.
Dru met Bill Latimer and married him at Center, TX Church of Christ 5/26/1944. Bill was in the Army and they had to move a lot. After WWII Bill went to work for Sinclair Oil and they moved to Tabor Street in Houston, TX on 3/1947 with their 2 children Kenneth 9/6/1945 and Judy 12/19/1946. In the summer of 1951 they built a house at 224 Sachnik Pasadena, TX. Johny was born 12/24/1952 and Sue was born 4/10/1963. In 1962 the family built a Bay House on Caney Creek, TX and enjoyed many pleasurable years fishing, boating, water skiing, swimming, and catching oysters and shrimp with family and friends. In 1970 Dru worked as a cafeteria lady at LF Smith Elementary School. She became a PE teacher at Fisher Elementary School until 1980.
After the kids left and Bill and Dru retired in 1983, they moved to Rayeville, LA to live the good life on 5 acres, farming, building a beautiful home, fishing in their own pond, and hosting family and friends on holidays and vacations. They were only a couple of hundred yards from Dru's sister Raye and her husband Cliff Dry. Bill passed away 10/22/2000 and Dru sold the farm and moved to "The Waterford" assisted living facility in Deer Park TX on 1/1/2007 where she was near to Kenneth and Sue. On 1/1/2013 she moved to "Colonial Oaks" assisted living to live out her remaining days.
